The Evan Ty Jenkins Pediatric Research Foundation operating as “Treasure Life” are pleased to provide you with this brief update on how your donation dollars were allocated in 2009.
Thank you for your support in the past and in helping us to assist the Cardiac Kids at the Stollery Childrens Hospital.
Rick Jenkins and Shauna Jenkins present a $30,000 check to Dr. Yashu Coe. Pediatric Cardiologist at the Stollery Hospital. The presentation was done at the ultra modern catheterization lab in the Mazankowski Heart Institute on Dec. 4, 2009. Dr. Coe works very closely with with pediatric and heart transplant patients at the Stollery and is world renowned for his work in the catheterization field. Funds are to be utilized for medical and research equipment, educational books and patient support pursuant to our objectives as filed with the Charities Directorate.

As a special Christmas surprise and to help keep the Cardiac Kids busy during their stay at the Stollery, we also purchased $1,500 worth of Nintendo DS and Playstation portables along with over 15 games. These will be utilized on the ward as well as the outpatient clinic.
Some of the kids waiting for heart transplant can be in hospital over a year so we know these will be well utilized!
We continue with our educational series at schools to spread the word and educate about congenital and acquired cardiac heart disease. 1 in 100 children will be born with a congenital heart defect.

About 1,400 children will be born with CHD in Western Canada in 2010.
Over 1,000 of those children will be treated at the Stollery Heart Institute.
The Stollery will perform over 600 pediatric heart surgeries this year alone.

Thank you to Ecole Bellevue School in Beaumont for allowing us to educate the children and be part of their family!!
The students have raised nearly $4,000 for the Foundation in the last 2 years.
To gain community support and educate the public, Treasure Life administered the 2009 and 2008 Brass Ring Tournament in Beaumont, AB. on behalf of the Beaumont Ringette Association.
This tournament has 34 teams and nearly 500 ringette players from across Alberta playing 57 games over 3 days in early November each year.
Thank you to the Beaumont Ringette Association and their players and parents for all of their support.
As you can see by the photo, the Treasure Life logo has been added a crest to the right sleeve of ALL ringette jerseys this year.
We believe all of the players are proud to wear this crest and show their support for all cardiac children!
